Projects for women entrepreneurs and businesswomen
With the aim of promoting inclusion and female empowerment, Banco ProCredit and the German Cooperation GIZ signed an agreement which will allow the financial institution to have the technical advice of the GIZ "PreViMujer" Program for the implementation of two projects, whose main beneficiaries will be women entrepreneurs and businesswomen, as well as collaborators of Banco ProCredit.
Business Development and Prevention of Violence against Women
The first project, called "Business Development and Prevention of Violence against Women in Ecuador", seeks to promote the empowerment and autonomy of nearly 5.000 women nationwide, through combined training on the prevention of violence against women and business development. Additionally, 60 women entrepreneurs will be selected to also be trained in accounting, legal and technological issues, by Banco ProCredit collaborators.
#YoGeneroEquidad program at Banco ProCredit
On the other hand, the bank will implement the #YoGeneroEquidad program, which will be aimed at its employees and will further strengthen its equitable institutional management with various activities, mainly focused on raising awareness and training its staff about gender violence, ensuring that the Bank ProCredit is a safe space free of violence against women.
According to Johanna Granitzer, General Manager of Banking Services at Banco ProCredit, “The close relationship between GIZ and ProCredit began in 2018, when we were the only financial institution to participate in the Business Costs of Violence Against Women in Ecuador study, and throughout this time it has been maintained and strengthened, mainly, for the common commitment we have to promote equal opportunities, and the eradication of discrimination and gender violence. That is why we are excited to be able to work together to combat these problems in an active, open and transparent manner.”
In this way, Banco ProCredit ratifies its commitment to combat violence and discrimination against women, generating strategic alliances and implementing internal initiatives that contribute to achieving it.
