Do you move by bicycle, public transport or a scooter, because you want to reduce the pollution caused by the use of the car?
We support you in this initiative, we, like you, try to put it into practice!
But what happens if your bank invests the money you have deposited in polluting industries, such as oil extraction, unsustainable mining or extraction of resources from protected areas? Would these activities detract from your effort?
This is just one example where you should take control of your finances.
Did you know that the money you have deposited in your bank is used effectively to make investments and grant credits?
There is nothing wrong with this, except that the bank could invest your money in sectors that conflict with your convictions (fossil fuels, other polluting sectors, child labor, weapons, tobacco, etc.), since they are usually sectors with a high performance.
Under European standards (Non-Financial Reporting Directive), large European banks are required to publish sustainability-related information in their annual reports.
Ask your bank in which sectors it invests the money in your accounts. If these sectors do not respect your convictions, change banks.
